In 2009 Patrick Flanagan began his career as a professional planner. His current concentration is in transportation planning. At Eastern Carolina Council he is the lead planner for the Down East Rural Planning Organization (DERPO) and assists with the Eastern Carolina Rural Planning Organization (ECRPO). Mr. Flanagan also oversees all other planning activities performed by Eastern Carolina Council.
Mr. Flanagan serves on the statewide SPOT Workgroup for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and worked with the Transportation Planning Branch of NCDOT to overhaul the budget and reporting system for all RPOs. He is currently the President of the North Carolina Association of Rural Planning Organizations.
Mr. Flanagan attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. While there he earned a Bachelor’s in Community and Regional Planning and a Master’s of Public Administration with a concentration in Emergency Planning. He has been with Eastern Carolina Council since his internship for his Master’s program in 2008.
