Andrea C. Reese serves as a Human Services Planner with the Eastern Carolina Council Area Agency on Aging. She is responsible for administering the Local Contact Agency (LCA), and Money Follows the Person (MFP) programs as well as performing compliance monitoring for the Title IIID Health Promotion and Disease Prevention program for agencies that receive HCCBG funding in the 9-county region.
Andrea has a B.A. degree in Psychology from Winona State University (Winona, MN) and an M.S. degree in Gerontology from UNC-Greensboro. She served 2.5 years as a Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman in the Piedmont region of NC, 7 years as an Aging Resources Specialist with a metropolitan senior service agency, and as an Aging Support Specialist in a small semi-rural community, providing information and assistance, and managing an HCCBG-funded in-home aide program.
Andrea’s main responsibilities with ECCOG lie in assisting interested residents of skilled nursing facilities in the region to transition back into their own homes through coordination with existing agencies/services, person-centered decision-making support, and client advocacy.
Andrea is a Certified Information and Referral Specialist in Aging (CIRS-A) through the Alliance of Information Systems (AIRS) as well as a certified Options Counselor through the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services. She is a certified Master Trainer under the Chronic Disease Self-Management (CDSMP, DSMP, and CPSMP) and Matter of Balance Programs. Andrea is also a certified Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselor with over 10 years of experience assisting Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.
