Licensing & Reciprocity Update 2016

Here is something for you to think about as groups begin to develop legislative agendas: Licensing and reciprocity in NC. Had you given any thought as to how licensing and reciprocity might be hurting entrepreneurs who are seeking to start businesses in your areas? How easy or hard are we making it for those who move to our area to practice a profession for which they were licensed in other state? What about the spouses of the military? How hard are we making it for them to practice their professions in NC when they move here with their military spouse? How hard do we make it for those exiting the military to practice skills they learned in the military without it costing them an arm and a leg in terms of money or time? Overall what should be the state’s role? Does licensing really protect the public as claimed? Is this just another tax? Questions for you to ponder. Below is a list of articles and studies, some specific to NC. As an individual interested in economic development, I would encourage you to be informed on this topic.
